Wow..hero is a big word and not one I'm sure I'm worthy of. These days I would find a "fashion fast" (a clothes-consuming diet) pretty easy. Being low on resources, shopping time and tempting places to shop (at least since leaving London) my fashion consumption has dramatically slowed with little effort. Limiting myself to six items however will not be effortless.
What better time than now to take up the Six Items Challenge, just as I am launching the Bristol Textile Quarter, a CIC dedicated to supporting Bristol's textile workers and building a community in Bristol that cares about how it is clothed.
I'm interested to see how my relationship with my chosen garments changes over time. I'm interested to see how I battle with my vanity (!) and hopefully how I spur myself to be more creative as a result. I'm also interested to think who I might meet and what conversations will be had along the way.
For a city that cares so much about food and sustainability (Sustainable Food City, Food Connections etc) I'm eternally surprised that the same conversations aren't happening about clothes and textiles. I hope that at least I can start a few murmurs here and there.
